kinda like, the more things change, the more they stay the same, tbh.

IT IS A KYOKO OPEN POST.
Fair play: basically anything. Run ship shit by me first. AUs, canon crossovers, jamjar settings. Memes of all kinds. Here's some ideas. OR just wing me a character and I'll pick something?
More to be added here as I think of it.

butter-fly lyrics are appropriate titles for every post this account ever has and ever will make

This is an open post for people whoopsing themselves into the Digital World and going on adventures with some iteration of Erika and Wormmon while they're there.
Circumstance deets to mix and match as you desire:
-> Version of Erika. There are two options here; the one I'm most interested in playing at the moment of posting this is the one I talked about in this plurk, wherein the events of CSHM specifically don't happen but everything else in Erika's life does; around the time CSHM would have happened, she dies and wakes up in the Digital World, then meets Wormmon and goes about enjoying her new life.
The second option is the actual end of canon, where Erika is Hudiemon (who I've decided can partition into Erika and Wormmon because nyeh), with all the various things that that comes along with. I'm less interested in this overall because she's a distinctly different character, and since she has her shit so much together there's less to explore on my end, but if a more straightforward mentor-student dynamic is what you're after - or if you want something with preexisting CR dealing with Erika just being a Digimon now and that's how it is - it could be fun.
There are actually three options, I lied, the third is a wildcard for shit like...jamjar to Digital World. Jamjar Erika getting absorbed into Hudiemon? Eater Erika???? There are lots of possibilities. Life is god damn weird sometimes.
-> Where your character comes from. Digimon indulges in multiverses, so they can come straight from their own.....or they can come from a CS AU (so basically modern life but EDEN exists)......or some mashup of the two, or from a jamjar, or literally whatever. As you might have guessed, going to the Digital World tends to involve weird shit happening with computers. Sometimes that weird shit is as inexplicable as "a portal literally manifested on my computer" and sometimes it's weird VR hijinks that leave you in a coma and sometimes it's weird dire science mishaps and ETCETERA
-> Specific geographical locations. If you're familiar with Digimon you know the kind of stuff you can do. If you're not familiar with Digimon: places in the Digital World tend to look like fantasy wildernesses with weird inorganic bits baked into the scenery, or structures of human origin that built themselves and have never been inhabited by humans and thus are kind of Weird. Here are some examples and also some more examples. Digimon live both in the wild, where they can be very monstrous and dangerous, and in villages, which can be extremely rustic or actually fairly developed.
By default I'm assuming Erika and Wormmon are hanging out in a jungle-y area like this but if you have a better idea I am all ears.
-> Digimon friend. Sleuthverse doesn't do the like, chosen child partners assigned by fate to save the world thing, but there is kind of this sense that Digimon and humans click well together and some inexorable whim of the universe nudges friends together and it's very poetic and shit. If you think it'd be cool or there's something to explore there, and if you don't mind juggling two characters, go for it. Here's an index of smol Digimans because the wikis are hahahahahahahahaha
-> The presence of some greater threat. If you want some drama mixed in with your wilderness survival SoL between Getting Here and Going Home, there is always vampires, which historically cause most of the dramatic horseshit the Digital World goes through. Or demon lords, or weird eldritch shit. Maybe Eaters? If you want something to fight but you don't know what, I can rec something. If you just need something to run from, any big toothy Digimon can do that without being evil, they do hunt each other and eat people and shit sometimes.
-> DESTINY?! If your character would really just not fucking deal well with being punted into isekai bullshit, in Sleuthverse they'd be likely to attract the attention of Mirei, who is like, the Igor/Velvet Room Attendant of the Digimon games multiverse, and whose purpose is to 1) show up and go hmmmm how fascinating and talk cryptically about fate whenever weird nonsense happens, 2) offer hospitality and important powers and things to the people who have to deal with the weird nonsense. Have her dispense advice, give directions, let them stay a night in the DigiLab, etc. She's accompanied by her partners Angewomon and LadyDevimon, who sometimes take the form of a white cat and a black cat.
-> Literally any specific character dynamic or scene things you really want to make happen. Ways characters meet, drama, cute shit, whatever
Erika AU dump
CANON:
- Pregame status quo "Digimon are real but Duftmon grew some chill" AU
- Post-reset "Philemon is a nerd and I stole his butterfly" A??U
CANON-ADJACENT:
- Pregame-ish status quo "Digimon aren't real but EDEN is and things are kind of sad" AU
- Worldhopping "[continues to dunk on Philemon] I am the vanguard it's me" AU
- Digital World "hey wanna see a neat trick [partitions]" AU
CROSSCANON:
- Danganronpa "I actually killed the entire shit out of Kishibe" AU
- Pregame status quo "Digimon are real but Duftmon grew some chill" AU
It's the mid-2010s and EDEN is the big shit. Hackers are a thing, Digimon are a thing, isolated weird digital wave occurrences are a thing, like CAT GHOSTS and other bullshit. Under Zero hasn't happened yet. All seems quiet...
- Post-reset "Philemon is a nerd and I stole his butterfly" A??U
In a world after the end of the world, EDEN exists - or is in development - but the worlds never collided so disastrously, Digimon and humans never met, and Erika Mishima never existed. The worlds are still linked, but only just so. Hudiemon watches the real world in the guise of a vision of a butterfly, and some can see it.
CANON-ADJACENT:
- Pregame-ish status quo "Digimon aren't real but EDEN is and things are kind of sad" AU
Same as the first option, but Digimon never existed, Kishibe never pulled her shit, and there is no miracle ending waiting in the wings for the Mishima family.
- Worldhopping "[continues to dunk on Philemon] I am the vanguard it's me" AU
- Digital World "hey wanna see a neat trick [partitions]" AU
CROSSCANON:
- Danganronpa "I actually killed the entire shit out of Kishibe" AU
As in canon, a company pioneering virtual reality technology gave Erika a second stab at life. As in canon, Ryuji Mishima founded the hacker organization Hudie. And as in canon, Rie Kishibe blackmailed him with his sister's life, forcing him into corporate espionage and sabotage. Unlike in canon, Erika found out in her own time, her exposure of Kishibe's crimes sent the corrupt executive off a roof, and there was no Digimon in her body pulling off a last-minute save. The skills Erika developed over years spent preparing for her revenge - and her computer-enhanced brain - warranted an acceptance to Hope's Peak Academy; she sees her attendance and future success as a way to repay everything her brother gave up to keep her alive. She's either the SHSL Hacker or SHSL Virtual Reality depending on how you feel about reused titles and weird abstract ones.
DIGIMOOOOOONS
JONESING FOR SOME RP RIGHT NOW FOLKS
Specifically, with Erika. She's somewhere from 14 to 16, lives in and runs an internet cafe in Ikebukuro, and is the mission control for Hudie, a hacker team that plies their trade in the immersive-VR world of EDEN. She can be kind of a pill and doesn't like interacting with strangers, to the point of ignoring their existence when they're in front of her and avoiding going outside for long stretches of time, but once you're in her inner circle she will raise hell to keep you safe and happy. Even if she won't actually, like, say to your face that she likes you. It's implicit.
SPOILERS for Hacker's Memory will be fairly abundant because a big one for Erika is dropped like a fifth of the way into the game. Specifically, spoiler to read: part of her brain is hosted on the cloud (sort of) because the car accident that killed her parents also left her with a really nasty seizure disorder sort of condition. A lot of her impatience and distance from people is attributable to either the accident, the fallout into her life from it, or existentialist discomfort from being part computer, and her vague morbid tendencies and philosophical notions about the nature of the self are definitely attributable.
ALTERNATE OPTION: I have Wormmon too, if you want to play with the cutest Digimon alive. They're also full of spoilers and it's kind of unavoidable. If you want both of em together just say the word.
You can draw prompts from the good ol random scenario list any of these memes, including the ideas up top that never got played out. Other vanilla options are jamjar settings (generic or copied), AUs into someone's canon, worldhop crossovers, etc. Robot/android AUs are also a good AU option, considering.
If you want to RP but don't know what would fly hit me up anyway and we can think of something
Shipping maybe. Erika'll be bad at it.

I only have icons/an account up for Rosalind at the moment but I can go Gdocs or iconless for the others (or I can get around to screenshots now that I'm not on a potato...)

Her info pages are all over the place, but basic background in the Emp app on her journal is universally correct up to the adventurer's guild bit. After that, her story splits into possibilities; the Emp app reflects a generic adventurer story, there's a WoL version of her following MSQ, and DOINKs know the sitch with her being in the FC.
Mainly I'm interested in in-universe relationship-building shit because Ros can kind of be a pill and that makes for interesting ups and downs. Mhigan shit or interaction with MSQ beats (patch cycle Thanalan drama, anyone?) is good. I love and accept other people's WoLs and all configurations of heroes, Echo status, Scion status, etc are good.
When Ros is WoL, all the usual feelsbaity WoL Problems are at play, but with her own personal spin on 'em. She's only leveled MNK. She's better behaved than usual but still has a bit of a reputation for being aggro, which gets more bottled up as time goes on and tends to explode into Stupid Reckless Decisions every couple of months. Her serious-business-meetings-with-leaders persona is very strong and stern and severe and undaunted, and the kindest she gets publicly is this kind of encouraging, stoic protector image. No dokis for Haurchefant but she was quite fond of him. Did have dokis for Minfilia and sort of Ysayle though.
RP prompts? I like isolation prompts like snowed in or whatever a geographically appropriate version of that is (trapped in dungeons? Long trip through uninhabited area? Etc?) Injury, other h/c, shenanigans, Gold Saucer, holidays, what the hell ever.
Shipping status? She's mostly interested in women. Any shipping is going to be kind of a turbulent, drawn-out affair, because she's a pill and also a fucking walnut who likes thinking about punching more than thinking about weenie feelings for weenies. Talking about development and skipping to the interesting bits is fine by me for shipping and everything else.
Hansaku Kiba -
Hansaku is an 18yo Raen who lived hidden in the mountains in a family enclave for his whole life then saw everyone he ever knew mowed down when the rebellion failed, spent a year alone in the wilderness after that, then sold what he scavenged from his old home to buy one (1) ticket out of Othard and one (1) source of powerful survivor's guilt. In Eorzea he tried to hobo it up in the Twelveswood and took up the study of Gridanian conjury because the Hearers were nice to him.
Also because it's something he can pour all his focus into to stave off guilt and bad memories. Dude's got issues. He's a bucket of sunshine, though, when he's found his groove; he's a wisecracking but relentlessly friendly gentle giant (max height au ra.) who makes a big fucking deal out of loving animals and trees and everything else tbh. Kind of clingy, eager to please. Also he wears that goddamn Monoa mask 24/7.
RP prompts? There's just the one version of Hansaku's history, so anything branching off of that works. He's easily encountered through anything to do with the Fane. DOINKs, again, know the sitch. Hansaku takes healer role when adventuring, he loves books and other nerdy shit...idk
Shipping status? Hansaku is actually way fucking easier to smut with than to ship with because he is touchy and affectionate and somewhat shameless but getting him to actually open up is very hard because he's petrified of people figuring out his story. He'll heap attention on other people then get really cagey when they try to return it.

shitposts and ideological arguments
I know 'em, you know 'em, we all know 'em. Those networks posts that don't always make perfect IC sense, but they're forever popular because they're so damn fun. "Hypothetical" moral questions. Accidental videos. 3AM oversharing. Effortposts. Contrived pleas for advice. Love 'em or hate 'em, jamjar networks are like...the peanut butter to DWRP's jelly. Or something?
HOW TO PLAY:
- Toplevel with a network post. Conversations take place in generic assumed jamjar settings where everyone's in (roughly) one place and can text each other.
- If you have any preferences about the genre or specifics of that generic assumed jamjar, or if you want it to be in the setting of an established game, or anything like that, say so.
- Reply to people's network posts.

[For 25 years, the compound at Ichigaya has been left eerily empty; first as the military became so many corpses in the street, then as Tayama took it and forbade entry, then as demons poured forth from it, and now out of a wary respect for what lies beneath it.

It's home to a few humans too, permanent guards that look after the reactor. And it's been visited a few times since the ceiling vanished, by Skins and Fujiwara and a tiny contingent, to salvage what helpful documents they can find.
There's talk of basing someone there - elite Hunters, perhaps even the Samurai, both hotly debated - but it's early yet to make those decisions, when there are so many more decisions to be made. Of food, and establishing agriculture. Of resettling the country that no longer exists, and of

p4 shadow bullshit
P4 Shadow/Dungeon thing for Walter as of February in Ryslig
Dungeon/show is "Life of the Primitive: A Documentary". Walter's Shadow invites the viewer to join him on an educational journey into the lives of humans who live in ignorance of the world, and promises to reveal fascinating truths about human nature through study of these primitives. He is very welcoming and enthusiastic about people intruding on the dungeon, encouraging them to fight and learn, and frames the Shadows sent at them as lessons that will lead them to enlightenment.
Haven't figured out the exact visual layout of the dungeon yet. Might have three parts; first part mimicking Mikado locales, second mimicking underground districts in Tokyo, and third mimicking population centers in Ryslig.
The narration through the dungeon never loses its enthusiasm, but the content is very negative, talking about how humans are all bound in ignorance yadda yadda life is short and brutal and nothing humans ever accomplish lasts.
When the Shadow is confronted, its argument goes something like this:
- All the shit it was talking about during the dungeon is true, therefore human life is inherently worthless.
- Because worth doesn't exist. Humans are just part of the food chain and their ability to create gods is self-defeating, not a mark of power.
- This is why Walter finds it so easy to kill and eat people, despite the things he says on the subject.
- In fact, Walter's whole chaos bullshit is really hypocritical; he takes it halfway and then cops out because he personally still wants to have meaning in his life.
- The only meaning in life is in the last delusion you can feed yourself before death, and Walter just wants to die for real so that he doesn't have to think of himself as inherently worthless again.
- This of course does not make Walter happy.
- When the Shadow powers up and turns on everyone, it does so because it wants to impart upon them this knowledge, and the way to do that is through a demonstration; fighting and killing them.
- It encourages everyone to fight it, praising their acceptance of knowledge.
Walter's persona is Belial/Beliar, of course \o/ Bonus to the meaning because of how the Shadow talks about "worthlessness". Belial, in the Old Testament, is a word meaning "worthlessness/lawlessness", used to identify people who go against God and therefore are not good for the community, and which was later picked up as the name of a demon (and featured in Paradise Lost as one of Lucifer's main cronies.) If you reject the Biblical standpoint, this "worthlessness" is something to be proud of, as in the Satanic Bible, where Belial is one of the main symbols and represents a grounded mindset and independence from lofty, meaningless philosophies and dogma. Receiving this Persona would be a symbol of Walter discarding the more untenable parts of the chaotic philosophy that he had become obsessed with and had driven his self-destructive ideals, and adopting a more forgiving and human (though still subversive and rather ruthless) moral "code".
Tower Arcana, I think. It fits both what Walter represents to others and the world - drastic change through upheaval and destruction, a force that mercilessly tears down so that new things can begin - and the event he's been through and is so hung up on, his defeat at the hands of Flynn that rocked his faith in the "knowledge" he had based his new feeling of personal identity on.

the pokemon au meme
(i wanna be the greatest master of them all!)

POKEMON AU TIME GUYS GET OUT YOUR POKEBALLS
The meme explains itself: AU your character into the Pokemon world! Post a toplevel with their team, backstory, profession, etc., then roll for relationship/scenario or come up with your own.
Not everyone has to be a young trainer on a journey - the Pokemon world is home to tradesmen and professors, gym leaders and professional breeders, and people from every walk of life you can think of. But no matter where you're from or what you do, Pokemon are and always have been a part of your life, and Pokemon battles and other competitions are a popular way of bonding with your partners, expressing yourself, and engaging with other trainers.
Some prompts to inspire threads:
1) Battle on the road! Or in your backyard, or on a boat, or wherever. When two trainers meet, the polite and friendly thing to do is to offer a quick battle, right?
2) Tournament! This is the real deal - a full-team battle to the knockout, for profit or glory. Maybe it's a little local gig, or maybe it's a Really Big Deal, but you're here and staking it all on this next battle.
3) Spectator! One character is giving it their all in a gym battle, tournament, contest, or other Pokemon-related activity, and the other's here to watch. Are they a rival sizing up their competition, or a friend tagging along for moral support? Meaningful offstage conversations, ahoy!
4) Traveling! Two journeying trainers? One journeying trainer and the non-trainer they're escorting to a site of interest? The roads in the Pokemon world are meant to be walked, and the sky is wide and welcoming...
5) Villain team! One hero and one villain facing off, two villains up to no good, or two heroes kicking some ass. Team Rocket, always in it for the money and power, is based in Kanto and Johto - but sometimes they send agents in search of foreign opportunities...
6) Legends! OH god what did you get yourselves into
7) Peril! Being a Pokemon trainer comes with its hazards - angry wild Pokemon, bad weather, accidentally burning your house down...
8) Profession! Chefs and construction workers and athletes and teachers all have Pokemon, too. The two of you met in what would be an everyday capacity in any world - in this world, though, "everyday" involves very large magic animals.
9) Pokemon Center! Sometimes the lines get really long and you end up waiting a long time to get your Pokemon back. Why not strike up a conversation?
10) Mentoring! One character is more experienced with Pokemon and has been coaching another character on how to be a better trainer. They could be siblings, gym leader/League member/expert and regular trainer, or just friends.
11) Research! Professors or trainers working for a professor are on a mission to gather information on a rare Pokemon - or Mega Evolution, or evolution stones, or any topic of your choice.
12) DRAMU. Sometimes Pokemon does that vaguely martial arts/sports anime thing where people get really invested in Pokemon battling or use it to deal with some big problem in their life and get really torn up over losing or not winning the right way and end up living alone on a mountain for three years to figure shit out? Maybe that's a little far, but yeah, battles are serious business that people put a lot of personal significance into. Time for dramu.

the siblings meme

Inspired by that plurk meme where everyone was suddenly inexplicably siblings and it was adorable/hysterical/awful.
Post character, tag into others' toplevels and play out a scene like they've always been siblings! The relationship can be by blood, by familiarity, or both - estranged relatives and found families are just fine, as long as the connection goes back most of their lives.
Is someone suddenly more well-adjusted than they were in another life?...Less well-adjusted, maybe? Inheritance drama? Living space drama? MOOOOM HE'S TOUCHING ME-
There's nothing quite like a sibling, is there?
